Concentration of the MICE Sector at the Dortmund Trade Dortmund Show

BOE International will consolidate its event experience for trade visitors and exhibitors next year. The high-calibre ‘mbt meeting place’ that established itself as a separate trade show for the MICE and business travel segments in Munich will be a part of BOE as from 2020. “The MICE segment showed a strong growth at BOE in the past two years. With the ‘mbt meeting place’, we have an excellent format to further expand the interesting 'Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions' segments at the Dortmund trade show,” said Sabine Loos, CEO of the Westfalenhallen Group.

Dortmund (RUh) – The MICE segment is meanwhile generating sales in the millions worldwide, creates demand and establishes new markets: BOE International (International Trade Fair for Experience Marketing) incorporates this positive development. From next year onwards, the MICE segment will experience a new consolidation at the Dortmund trade show as ‘mbt meeting place’ trade show will be merged with the trade show concept of BOE in 2020 onwards. The international trade show for experience marketing will take place again in Dortmund on 15 and 16 January.

On the one hand, the MICE segment is a major growth factor for the tourism industry and on the other hand, cities and destination areas financially benefit from innovative events. Germany is gaining international profile and recognition as a destination for discerning customers. BOE already recognised the rapidly increasing importance more than two years ago. It is therefore not surprising that a separate hall has been dedicated to the strong MICE segment at BOE since last year to take the attractive and complex range of products and services into account.

“BOE has recently undergone an enormous development and professionalization, especially in the MICE segment. The integration of ‘the mbt meeting place’ further increases this strength and consolidates the range of products and services in the German market in a OneStop-Shop of the decision-makers and players operating in this field,” said Alexander R. Petsch, Managing Director of the børding trade show organiser who sees it as being a great opportunity for the segment. More than 150 exhibitors have presented their products, services, creative ideas and new trends in event organisation at various trade show locations, including Munich, every year. Since 2012, trade visitors have been welcomed by hotels, convention centres, event location organisers, exhibitors in the accompanying programme, incentive and event segments, agencies and software developers specialising in participant management and event enquiry management as well as providers of services ensuring the success of events. An interesting accompanying programme that include lectures, panel discussions and practical examples has allowed decision-makers, influencers and insiders from the MICE segment to inform themselves about current trends in the sector at the ‘mbt meeting place’ trade show. The trade show originally planned to be held in Munich on 13 November 2019 will not take place but instead be integrated into BOE International in Dortmund in January 2020 and beyond.

The main focus will be on the strategic positioning in a dynamic sector, the trends of which are continuously progressing. About 550 exhibitors from segments like event organisation, event equipment and stand construction will present themselves to about 10,000 trade visitors from agencies and companies.

“The MICE segment will diversify further in the coming years. The now greater diversification of BOE offers the opportunity of covering the individual segments in greater depth,” added the ‘mbt meeting place’ founder, Alexander R. Petsch. Agencies, event managers and decision-makers in event organisation get expert knowledge at the trade show and benefit from recipes for success concepts and new contacts. Furthermore, BOE initiates contacts between young talents and future employers. The trade show offers a high-quality accompanying programme with lectures. Examples of the various topic titles are TECHNOLOGY & SCENOGRAPHY FORUM, SAFETY & SECURITY FORUM, MICE FORUM, ACTS ON STAGE and DIGITAL FORUM. About BOE International:

BOE INTERNATIONAL, the International Trade Show for Experience Marketing, will be the meeting place of the event industry again on 15 and 16 January 2020. About 550 exhibitors from the event organisation, event equipment and stand construction segments will present themselves to about 10,000 trade visitors from agencies and companies. Projects and innovations can be discussed at BOE right at the beginning of the New Year. A new highlight in 2019 was the International Festival of Brand Experience (BrandEx), where current topics of the sector are already discussed a day before BOE starts.

About the mbt meeting place:

Exhibitors from hotels, event locations, event services, business travel services, and destinations have presented their offers at this trade show in Wiesbaden, Cologne, Hamburg, Frankfort on the Main and Munich since 2012. The last separate ‘mbt meeting place’ was due to take place in Munich on 13 November 2019 but will now be included in BOE International in Dortmund on 16 / 17 January 2020 instead. An attractive lecture programme with topics covering digitalisation, sustainability, event safety and security and other practical tips provided event planners with ideas and solutions for their daily work.
