With VIP Factor and Practical Relevance
BOE, the international trade show for experience marketing, will take place at the Dortmund Exhibition Centre on 10 and 11 January and boast culinary VIPs. Big names from the gastronomic sector will talk about catering, one of the main trade fair topics. Within the scope of the second main topic, event safety and security, trade visitors will be able to try their hand at implementing safety and security concepts. Furthermore, start-up companies will let themselves be judged by trade visitors at BOE. As always, the entertaining BOE Night promises to be an informal networking highlight in the evening of the first exhibition day.
‘Culinary Stage’, the lecture and discussion forum in Hall 5, will inform the BOE trade visitors about catering trends. Red-hot topics include digitalisation in catering. For example, cloud- and tablet-based catering software will be showcased, and the application area of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) will be explained, under the heading ‘The Digitalised Kitchen’. A scientific study conducted by R.I.F.E.L. (Research Institute for Exhibition and Live Communication) on the catering topic will be presented and discussed with LECA (Leading Event Caterer Association) members.
Caterers with undisputable expertise will get together on the ‘Culinary Stage’. They include, for example, the Michelin-starred chef Andy Yang from New York, Xiao Wang, one of the world’s best Teppanyaki masters, and Dan Husted, co-founder of Copenhagen Street Food, and from Germany, the multiple-award-winning star-rated chef Christian Sturm-Willms from Bonn, René Klages, chef de cuisine at the ‘17fuffzig’ restaurant in Burg (Spree Forest), and Peter Inhoven, cult butcher from Dusseldorf.
A TV celebrity is the entrepreneur and TV chef Mike Süsser. He was a member of the ‘Koch-Profis’ cooking show on the German ‘RTL2’ TV channel from 2009 to 2014. He is currently in front of the camera for the German ‘Kabel 1’ TV channel. The star-rated chef already gave his praise after the Street Food Convention within the scope of BOE 2017: “The convention was a great asset and a further development for the catering sector and lets us take home plenty of ideas and inspirations for our daily catering work.” The Street Food Convention will again take place at the Westfalenhallen Convention Centre alongside the BOE trade fair on 9 and 10 January 2018.
Event Safety and Security Roadshow
The SAFETY and SECURITY FORUM at BOE 2018 will be organised by the Federal Association of Event Safety and Security (Bundesverband Veranstaltungssicherheit), the Association of Media and Event Technology (Verband für Medien- und Veranstaltungstechnik) and VDS GmbH, a company specialising in events, services and safety and security, and complemented by the ‘Event Safety and Security Roadshow’: eventfaq will allow visitors to put event safety and security into practice on stand 4.E20: The Action area boasts an activity course based on this topic. It consists of a small event location which still appears to be ‘unsafe’ and may not yet be opened to the public. Together with the event safety and security experts, the participants will take measures to make the location safe again. Completely in line with the motto: Learning by doing! Participation is free of charge. A limited number of places will be reserved for last-minute participants during the trade fair: Duration: 30 – 45 minutes.
An innovative BOE area is situated in the north-west of Hall 7, where young entrepreneurs of the sector are grouped together and showcase their innovative products and services. Which start-up company will convince the sector the most? Interested visitors are invited to visit the DIGITAL FORUM (stand 7.A34) on the second exhibition day at 12:30 and attend the ’BOE Start-up-Pitch 2018’competition.
The BOE Night will take place on 10 January. This is where people meet in a casual environment with live music for talks, networking or just a nice evening. In 2018, ANNRED will take the stage and delight the audience. The band will of course prove that its repertoire also includes party music during the BOE Night. ANNRED ranks among the Top 100 entertainers and has already received many awards.
The culinary scope of the evening is spectacular and fits the main topic of the trade fair: Award-winning, Michelin-starred and TV chefs will serve culinary delights together with befriended top-quality local producers; excellent butchers and meat importers / meat refinement experts and master caterers will offer high-quality meat and barbecue experiences and the visitors can get to know internationally renowned Street Food and Food Truck concepts at about 20 stations.
